The Land Down Under is gearing up for the Japanese auto maker to introduce different variations of the Civic including:
- A VTi-L
- Civic Sport
- Five-door hatchback Civic
Starting with the base model 2012 Civic VTi-L, the model contains a huge number of standard features, but has a price drop of $3700 from last year's model. Next up we will take a look at the popular Civic Sport. It is expected that the Civic Sport will make up 25% of total volume coming from Honda, and starts a a mere $27,990. A smaller amount of Civic Hybrids will also be seen in Australia, and will start at $35,990. Honda hopes that the Civic Hybrid takes off in Australia as it has here in the US.
What also has consumers and critics talking is that the Civic Hatchback version will come with the option of a gas or diesel engine under the hood!
Honda Australia Director Stephen Collins confirmed that other models "will be sold with either a 1.8 liter petrol or 2.2 liter diesel engine." The auto maker predicts they will sell roughly 500 models per month.1
Other vehicles that will be sold in Australia include:
- Honda Insight Hybrid
- Honda Jazz Hybrid (their version of Fit)
Honda has high hopes, and would like to see their figures back up to around 40,000 cars sold in the year.
