Honda has recently undergone a shift in power, by making some big changes at the executive level. Erik Berkman will serve as the new American Honda R&D president starting on April 1. Berkman has been an employee with Honda since1982, and will replace Hiroshi Takemura, who will be returning to Honda's home office in Japan.

American Honda President Tetsuo Iwamura has also been promoted to the office of executive VP.  They are in charge of compliance at Honda dealers like Honda Superstore of Lisle. 

This will be no east task for Berkman, as he has some serious shoes to fill. One of his primary duties will be to design new American Honda models, like the Honda Accord. Honda has had over 20 very successful models which have been built for North American audiences since '91.

"Berkman has worked at Honda since 1982. He is now vice president of corporate planning and logistics in the Americas," according to sources.¹
