2012 Honda Civic Natural Gas Variant

Across the globe "Natural Gas" means something different to almost everyone and is used to power all sorts of different things, including production plants. But, most people have never heard of an automobile being powered by natural gas. Believe it or not, the technology has been around for years, and Honda continues to make their Honda Civic models available with a CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) option at dealers like Honda Superstore of Lisle -4475 LINCOLN Ave in Lisle, Illinois.

Recently announced, the official MSRP for the 2012 Civic Natural Gas version is $26,155. The Honda Civic Natural Gas variant will hit approximately 200 dealership showroom floors throughout 38 of the states as well as Canada.

You might be wondering what the benefits to driving a Natural Gas car are? And, there are actually quite a few benefits, including cost. Natural Gas is on average 30% cheaper than gasoline, and it produces hardly any smog-forming emissions. The Civic CNG has a remarkable fuel economy of 27 mpg city and 38 mph highway for an average fuel economy of 31 mpg. Some states, including California, allow CNG cars to travel in carpool lanes, despite the number of passengers, which is another benefit to driving a CNG.

Civic Natural Gas is powered by a modified version of the 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine in traditional Civic variants, matted to a five-speed automatic transmission.

According to the Japanese business magazine Nikkei, "the decision to sell the natural gas Civic throughout the United States is in response to increased interest in green cars and fuel efficient cars."1
